Darren Ryan

Darren grew up in Hawkes Bay and moved to the Wakatipu in 99 with his family. Since arriving he has worked for Chris Colvin and Allister Saville where he met Jay.

After 5 years of working together on exciting high end projects in and around Southern Lakes and enjoying outdoor pursuits together they decided to create Ironwood Construction.

Darren is a “hands on” focused carpenter with a love of quality finishing and accuracy. He enjoys creative challenges and the opportunity to re-purpose and recycle materials.

He is passionate about his craft, the local area, and building with components that complement the alpine environment.

Jay Kennedy

Jay is originally from Palmerston North and has over 20 years of knowledge and experience working in the construction industry around the world.

In 2010, Jay returned to New Zealand and settled in Queenstown. It quickly became home for him and his young family and it is here that he met Darren, working together on high end homes with A J Savillle Builder Ltd.

More recently Jay and Darren decided to take their skills and experience and form their own company, Ironwood Construction.

Jay has an eye for fine detailing, and takes pride in making sure the finished product is high quality. He believes that good communication is key to exceeding client expectations with every project he takes on.
